Love Sonnet

Tis wondrous how so sudden things grow strange
When brief held friendship springs to something new
And how unending far my free thoughts range
To places unseen occupied by you.

And yet at "strange" my lips should hesitate
And seek a word that might my thoughts reveal
That my heartfelt delight would indicate
And not an awkwardness I do not feel.

For though the time’s been brief, it has not been
While my fond brain has puzzled the attempt
If I should dare to dare and judging when
I’d know if I’d meet welcome or contempt.

Your new attention, sudden but not strange
A long anticipated welcome change.

Hidden Sonnet

Rather than being clear to public view
My love defines a private space apart
There all is kept that’s spoke between us two
Alone there lives this secret of my heart

But not as such, not lonely, not alone
For you dwell with me in this idyll place
And thus the secret is not just my own
But stands before me hidden in your face

For our romance is yet so circumspect
It leaves no trace for prying would be spies
And disapproval does not yet suspect
What I find plain to read within your eyes

Our love it hides itself and us as well
Treasured away until we wish to tell.
